Here Goes the Sun!

When I visited my 93-year-old mother recently in Florida, I thought back about all the sunrises and sunsets that she has seen in her lifetime.  Unfortunately, with prevailing dementia, she most likely doesn’t remember the one’s we just shared together, but rather those she had observed in the past.  They are as real and vibrant to her, as these images captured here.

I imagined that many had real significance, either in marking a special occasion or a moment of regret or loss.

The sight of a young couples marriage proposal at sunset!

Either way, I know she sensed the majesty of the moment, when the sun dips down ever so slowly into the ocean, leaving us with an impressionist wash of colors as a souvenir.

I will certainly remember the sunset we shared together and so much more….

Just beyond the sunset

Lies a home for me

Where the world is peaceful

Like a paradise should be

Just behond the sunset

Someday is where you’ll find me.

(Just Beyond the Sunset, by David Harris, August 1966)
