Discovering Gold in San Francisco!
With all the tech growth in the Bay area, San Francisco has become more vibrant than ever. Neighborhoods are now teeming with new restaurants and fun, interesting things to do.
I recently visited Valencia Street, in the Mission District. It’s a hip, fun slice of the city . My favorite place there to grab a bite to eat is Tacolicious. (between 17th and 18th)
The real draw for me is the delicious upscale tacos that they serve at this non-traditional “hipster” Taqueria. You won’t find a burrito in sight, though it does boast 120 different kinds of tequilas.

An ever growing local chain, the restaurants spun off from the original Thursday Only Stand at San Francisco’s Ferry Building.
The good news is that every Tacolicious location has it’s own personality. The mission restaurant has a sunny enclosed desk, which is the perfect place to enjoy a cold margarita. There is also a large back room for private parties.
We devoured the Shot-and-Beer, braised chicken, traditional Carnitas and Guajillo braised short rib tacos. They were all so delicious that it’s hard to pick a favorite.
Parking on Valencia is difficult. My suggestion is to take an Uber.
I hope you tag along for my next posts. We’ll visit two of my favorite stores in San Francisco, both on Valencia Street. They are perfect retail draws for want to be pirates and taxidermists.
