The 40th Annual Kris Kringle Dinner
What started off at a small gathering of friends eager to start a holiday tradition over dinner at the old Ben Johnson Restaurant in San Francisco is still going strong after 40 years.
To celebrate this milestone anniversary that core group of friends invited other friends who have been invited into the fold over the years to celebrate at Thornbury castle in England.
Built in 1511 as a home for the 3rd Duke of Buckingham, it was later confiscated by Henry VIII, who stayed there with his wife Ann Boleyn. Currently a luxury hotel, the festivities over the weekend took place in and around the glorious interior.
Since words can’t do justice to the castle or the 40th Kris Kringle Dinner, the photos will have to tell the story.

My talented daughter Averell, who has mastered the art of holding a spoon on her nose, another Kris Kringle tradition!
The pastry chef, who looks like he’s 12, being congratulated on his delicious figgy pudding. The “Best” our master taster has ever had!
