Decadence, New Orleans Style
This is Throwback Tuesday, which happens to be Election Day. Hope you all remember to vote!
Because I was somewhat of a Debbie Downer on my last post about boycotting Halloween, I thought I would redeem myself with at a look back at the over the top splendor of the New Orleans Mardi Gras Balls. There are costumes galore, amazing backdrops, glittering tiaras and…
Nothing better than a good tableau vivant I always say!
To outsiders, the Mardi Gras festival in New Orleans might be about parades. But for many locals though, the highlight of the season are Mardi Gras Balls, that are put on by numerous and exclusive social clubs.
These Balls are private, held in small venues and open on to the krewe or social member and their guests. So since I was lucky enough to be invited, come follow me for a visual romp through these glittering affairs. You won’t be disappointed!
I love nothing more than dressing up for white tie evening. What do you all think of my hair back then?
Just who is this masked man?
The parents of the “Queen” are expected to purchase the tiara for their daughter.
The ball in full swing!
I love the young page on the left.
